While limiting power while driving is very frustrating, it’s the system’s way of attempting to protect the engine by limiting heat buildup.
In the wintertime you might also notice the car’s heater producing cool air from the vents. This is because the BMW 335i depends on hot engine coolant circulating through the heater core to produce hot air for the climate control system. If coolant flow stops due to a bad water pump, there simply won’t be enough hot fluid in the heater core.
All these issues are related to the water pump’s role in moving coolant through the BMW 335i’s engine and cooling system. As it starts to fail, coolant circulation starts to suffer, allowing engine temperature to rise. However, the warning signs can be subtle at first, so paying attention to the combination will help you catch a failing water pump before it causes expensive damage to other components.
